What’s the real news?

Last night Gavin Floyd was inches away from a no-hitter against Minnesota. However, 4 out of the 5 articles on the White Sox in the Sun-Times today were about the blow-up dolls..again. Give the guy a break! One of the articles had a great photo of Floyd but it had nothing to do with him. It’s kind of sad that Floyd has to have the backseat to this situation and that the media is still going crazy about these dolls.

It was especially great to see the whole 5-column complaint from Jay Mariotti about Ozzie Guillen. I’m glad he took the time to look up how much these blow-up dolls cost. Shouldn’t we be looking up baseball stats instead? He did mention Floyd briefly, but then quickly related it to his hate for Ozzie. There should be articles about how they played, and possibly a sidebar of this doll nonsense. Not entire pages of columnists saying everything everyone else has said. I’ve read the same quotes over and over about the same thing over and over .I really just wanted to hear about Floyd and the game. Yes the doll thing was gross and tasteless, and it offended people, I get it. Can’t we move on?

  1. I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss the story due to the historic nature of it… Synthetic Cindy set the MLB single-game record for reaching third base 25 times.
