The Riveting Continues

By: Angie Wiatrowski

I don’t mean to target your article again Den, but I have to. I definitely know that you meant it as completely satire, but more comments have been posted which lead me to believe that some men actually feel this way and it’s making me crazy. ( To catch up, read ‘What Would Rosie the Riveter Do?’).

Example:

“To Den: Sorry you had to explain the satire. Women, as you know, are governed solely by their cycles. We (men, those who created fire and the Electoral College) cannot expect them to react rationally.

Unfortunately for you, your critics appear to have “synced up” and are coming all at once, ready to burn you at the phallic stake.

Good luck. -jon”

Where’s the logic in that??? We’re governed solely by our cycles?? And we’re not expected to react rationally? I am so sick of men blaming ‘that time of the month’ on every feeling a female has just because they don’t want to hear it. I’m sorry, but how would you react when you’re sex was made a mockery of and completely stereotyped and people actually still believe them??? I’m sorry if I’m just trying to bring out the truth and break down these sick sexist stereotypes of women and I absolutely cannot understand why and how men could think that way. If we’re so bad, and men are so great, powerful, and wonderful, be gay! (Might I add I do not believe there is anything wrong with homosexuality, and we’re no longer living in the 50’s. There are more important things than having dinner on the table by 5 for a man who is unappreciative).

  1. All I can say to you is this: you go girl :) That kind of sexist thinking infuriates me too–but all we can do is fight it by responding intelligently and rationally. You have done both in this situation.
